摘要: Genotyping by Sequencing (GBS) is an innovative technology that evaluates genotypes based on their nucleotide sequences, aiding in the identification of promising cultivars with desirable traits that can greatly influence plant breeding. GBS examines genetic variation at the sequence level, making it a valuable tool for addressing challenges in plant breeding. It has been widely used to study responses to biotic and abiotic stresses, as well as to improve quality and yield traits in various crops. Commercially cultivated Citrus cultivars are highly sought-after for fresh fruit and orange juice production but has limited genetic diversity due to asexual reproduction and clonal propagation, rendering it susceptible to many diseases and pathogens. In contrast, wild citrus species possess genetic traits that allow them to thrive in harsh conditions and resist diseases. Thus, understanding the genetic mechanisms behind their tolerance is essential. This review highlights important considerations for exploring the genetics of citrus species before applying this knowledge to citrus breeding. Furthermore, the GBS approach has the potential to reveal additional candidate genes that could help mitigate future crop-related stresses arising from environmental changes.
